Potato Scab

Symptom

Potato scab is a disease that causes unsightly blemishes on potato tubers, but it doesn't usually affect yield or storage life. The disease is caused by soilborne bacteria, mainly Streptomyces scabies. Symptoms include rough, raised patches, and in some cases, pitted lesions on the tuber surface. While it's mostly a cosmetic issue, it can reduce the marketability of potatoes. Dry Soil conditions, especially during tuber formation, can increase the severity of the disease.
